This London based gaming software company is responsible for the phenomenal; success of the online casino game Slingo.
This bingo / slot hybrid was devised by a New Jersey property developer called Sal Falciglia in the United States in 1994. He trademarked and patented the game shortly afterwards, and formed his own company to market his new creation. The game was a great success in the United States, and was soon brought to the attention of industry insiders on the other side of the pond. This was particularly the case in the United Kingdom, where Bingo remains a traditional favourite.
A company called Real Networks had already snapped up the rights to the game in 2013 for over $15 million, but it was Gaming Realms which saw the true potential of Sal’s invention. It acquired full rights to the game in 2015, and set about ensuring that it received its proper promotion throughout the United Kingdom online bingo and casino market.
Today, it is available to play on dozens of UK compatible bingo and casino sites, and in far more formats than just the original form. There are now well over a dozen different varieties of Slingo to choose from. These include many licenced and branded formats, such as Britain’s Got Talent, Deal or no Deal, Love Island, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and X Factor Slingo, to name just a few.
And as if the market was not reaching Slingo saturation point, in January 2019 Gaming Realms signed a new licencing agreement with gaming software giants the Scientific Games Group. This will result in the game becoming even more generally available, as almost every casino carries Scientific Games content. It will also result in at least one more guaranteed variety of the game: Scientific Games are the licence holder for the iconic board game Monopoly, and both sides are keen to get the new Slingo Monopoly game up and running as soon as possible.
The game continues to go from strength to strength, and with the new licencing deal freshly signed, it seems that it is only a matter of time before Slingo really does have a virtual monopoly of the online gaming market.
