Stride Gaming PLC

Stride Gaming is not the best known name in online bingo, but it is in fact one of the biggest. This company is the third largest online bingo operator in the UK, responsible for around 25% of the total online bingo market. It is also big enough to have earned a listing on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM). At the time of writing, it was valued at around £170 million.

This below the radar business growth is derived from its focus on bingo. Whereas many of its competitors have moved onto the seemingly more lucrative casino market, Stride Gaming has kept faith with its original strategy, where its considerable experience remains exceptional. It has however diversified to take advantage of burgeoning growth in the casino industry too.

With well over a hundred different brands the company has in its portfolio, its more famous titles include Kitty, Lucky Pants, Moon and Robin Hood Bingo, plus Magical Vegas and King Jack Casino. The company has its operational headquarters in north London, with further offices based around the globe, including in Israel and South Africa. It has its registered address on the UK Channel Island of Jersey, while its gaming operations are licenced via the neighbouring island of Alderney. This means that all its operated sites are fully regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and are therefore regarded as safe to play for players based within the United Kingdom. In addition to running its own sites, it can also licence its proprietary software platform, enabling partner operators to launch their own bingo titles or casinos.

The company was founded as recently as 2012, achieving its AIM listing in 2015. But the true history of this company in fact goes a lot further back than this: its founders have been stalwarts of the industry since the very beginning.

The current management team have been involved in the online bingo business since 2002. They were the original brains behind GlobalCom Limited since sold on to become part of the Dragonfish conglomeration of companies. They were also behind the launch of two of the most successful brands in Bingo: Foxy Bingo and Wink Bingo. Both of these were sold to 888 Holdings (also owners of the Dragonfish empire) for a total of close to £100 million.

Stride Gaming continues to expand rapidly. It achieves this growth organically, both by the regular release of new sites and by licencing further white label operations to other operators both within the UK and internationally. It also has a programme of acquisitions which further enhance its development. In August 2017, it completed the takeover of 8Ball Games, a medium sized rival which was responsible for around a dozen casino and bingo sites, including Lippy Bingo, Love Your Bingo, Tidy Bingo and Slots of Glory.

So Stride Gaming may well not be the first name that comes to mind when thinking of big time bingo operators, but don’t let that fool you. This company is one of the biggest names in the business, and it continues to grow at some pace.
